What the extension does

The extension runs only on Google Meet (meet.google.com). It reads live captions already shown in the meeting and sends that text to our backend API over HTTPS so it can be translated. The translated text is shown in place of the captions on the page. API keys used for translation (for example OpenAI) are kept on our servers, not inside the extension.

Data we process

Caption text

Sent to our backend and translation provider to return a translation.

Anonymous extension user ID

Stored in the extension (for example in chrome.storage) and sent with requests so we can enforce free-tier limits and subscriptions.

Language preferences

Stored locally (target language, auto-translate on/off).

Usage counts

Stored locally and/or on our servers for limits and billing.

Subscription / payment

Handled by Stripe. We store subscription status and related identifiers as needed to provide the service.

Account recovery

If you use email one-time codes, your email address is used only to send the code and link it to an existing subscription.

Our backend may retain a short prefix of text from translation requests (for example the first 100 characters) for abuse monitoring, debugging, and usage analytics.

Where data is sent

• Our backend API (hosted on secure cloud infrastructure; communication is over HTTPS).

• OpenAI (or another translation provider we configure), when our backend requests a translation.

• Stripe, when you pay or manage a subscription.

• Our email provider (for example Mailgun), only when we send recovery or transactional emails.

Legal bases (EEA / UK)

Where applicable, we rely on performance of a contract (providing the service), legitimate interests (security and abuse prevention), and consent where the law requires it.

Retention

We keep server logs, usage records, and subscription data only as long as needed to run the service, meet legal obligations, and resolve disputes. Exact periods may vary by data type; contact us for deletion requests (see below).

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, or to object to certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact info@expertinsightlimited.com.

Children

The extension is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 where local law applies).

Changes

We may update this policy when the extension or service changes. We will revise the “Last updated” date above. Material changes may be communicated through the extension listing or product page.
